Philosophy of Care

I believe the counseling relationship forms the foundation for positive change. Through a safe and accepting connection, people are free to address what they need to and begin to find solutions to their problems. When a person is able to experience openness and compassion while facing their difficulties, they begin to see options they could not see before. People change how they view the situation, and/or themselves, which leads to new feelings and new choices in life.

In counseling, the client’s desired outcome is the focus. Services start with identifying what a person wants from counseling and what contributes to the current circumstances. Through the process of sharing, new awareness emerges as well as clear actions for reaching the desired results. It’s my role to provide interventions and practical actionable steps, which match the needs of the individual or family. The client participates fully and chooses how they want to take action.
