Philosophy of Care

I have no one approach in working with individuals or couples other than to attend and engage each client, meeting them where they are at in their life journey. I envision myself as a guide and a facilitator with clients, and firmly believe that each individual has inherent worth, insight, and the ability to resolve many of life’s obstacles. My goal is that every client is empowered through the therapeutic process, and issues of shame, self-esteem and trauma are carefully explored. My approach is that each individual has a unique set of values and beliefs and that in aiding clients to better understand/develop theirs will lead to greater acceptance and appreciation of themselves.

In working with individuals and couples, I am inclined to examine the client’s role within their family and the way that this role impacts their self-perception and the overall family dynamic. An increased understanding of this family role affords the opportunity for improved relationships, boundaries and communication. Those who work with me will find safety, patience, tolerance, and an environment that I am hopeful will foster great potential for personal growth and insight.
