I am a licensed professional counselor with a master's degree in counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Before becoming a therapist, I served the UW-Whitewater campus and students for over 20 years. I earned my degree in 2009 and recently completed work at a community mental health clinic in Janesville.
My approach is client-focused and draws from a variety of therapy modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Act and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I aim to empower clients to grow in self-awareness and esteem by discovering their strengths and improving their problem-solving abilities. I value spirituality as an essential resource in the therapeutic journey. My clients deal with various challenges, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, grief, and adjustment.
Philosophy of Care
I strive to create an environment where clients feel accepted and safe to explore issues of concern. I believe clients are experts in their lives and seek to understand their experiences. I wish to meet clients where they are and help them identify and achieve goals that improve their lives and relationships. In our work together, we seek insight, develop interventions, create accountability, and foster hope and change.
